This Work Placement Experience Programme provides Participants with an opportunity to gain meaningful work experience, learning and training while on the programme. This programme is for jobseekers who are in receipt of qualifying social welfare payments and those transferring from a social welfare scheme or an ETB Training Allowance. Your eligibility for this programme will be verified by the Department as part of the application process.
Applicants should supply suitable character references and be prepared to complete a Garda vetting application form. DUFC is seeking a Participant to join our Community Team, working alongside another Community Officer to help deliver football-based programmes across schools and the wider community. This placement is designed to provide practical learning experience in community sports development, programme coordination and event support — skills that are relevant not only within football, but also across youth work, community development, event management and general programme delivery roles. The participant will support the delivery of school programmes across various age groups and abilities, assist with the planning and preparation of equipment before and after sessions, and support club volunteers on match nights. They will also assist in the organisation of football camps, matchday experiences and annual community sports tournaments, working closely with their line manager and colleagues.
This is a training and work experience opportunity; no prior experience in this role is necessary. Accredited and/or sector recognised training will be provided to support your placement. Participants are eligible to participate in the WPEP QQI Work Experience Module which was developed by the Education & Training Boards in collaboration with the Department of Social Protection. This optional module will fulfil your accredited training requirements for the WPEP. Formal / Structured Training (Approx. 20 hours) • Health and Safety Awareness • Manual Handling • Fire Safety and Risk Assessment • Safeguarding 1 (Children in Sport) • First Aid Awareness • Introduction to Community Sports Development • GDPR and Data Protection • Professional communication skills • Managing challenging behaviours • Understanding different teaching and learning styles • Equality and diversity awareness in sport Informal Training (Approx. 40 hours) • Workplace induction and orientation with DUFC • Supporting delivery of school and community programmes • Equipment planning, preparation and care • Supporting matchday and event operations • Assisting with football camps and tournaments • Building relationships with schools, partners and volunteers • Ongoing supervision, feedback and review of learning
